BE the World
You Want to See!
Often
what we dream
about and pray for doesn't take the form that we think it 'should.'
This is the time that we need to call upon our 'inner wisdom' ...
to see beyond the physical and recognize true gifts when they magically

From the Inside Out
A LASSIE DOG
As
Kevin sat intently in front of the old 19 inch Zenith television
set with rabbit ears' and poor reception, his mother watched her
little seven year boy move almost theatrically as he cheered Lassie
on. "Go get 'em, girl, go get 'em!" He'd look forward
to each episode as Lassie would save the day on each and every airing
of this show. His
mother had memorized Kevin's question as it was sure to follow at
the end of every episode of "Lassie." Per usual, he quickly
spun around while sitting 'Indian Style' on the floor and asked,
"Mom?, Can I have a Lassie dog? Please, mom!?"
As
she gazed into into his eager eyes she replied, "Honey, I'd
love to give you a dog like Lassie, but I've said it before
dogs like Lassie like to be outside and run." Desperately trying
to convince him she added, "Kevin, I have told you over and
over again that our yard is too small for a Lassie dog!"
Kevin
appeared pensive for a moment and then excitingly exclaimed, "I
have an idea mom! I'll teach the Lassie dog to stay by me all of
the time so she won't get lost or hurt!" His mother appeared
surprised that Kevin could creatively think on his feet so quickly.
"That's a really neat idea, sweetheart, but Lassie is what's
known as a Collie and you can't teach a Collie to stay by your side
all of the time because they're outside dogs and I'm afraid your
Lassie dog would run away. Do
you understand what I'm saying, honey?" Kevin looked down and
was clearly disappointed by what he felt was his last ditch effort
to gain his mother's favor as it would relate to his getting his
youthful mind's hero a dog and friend like Lassie.
Months
passed and Kevin stopped asking his mother whether or not he could
get a dog like Lassie. She noticed his increasing quietness and
sadness with each passing episode and thought back to her childhood.
Her parents surprised her one year with a little scrounge mutt that
she adored. She got this ugly little dog when she was about her
son's age and the guilt of not allowing Kevin to have a dog to be
his best friend finally got to her. One afternoon after yet another
episode of "Lassie", she decided, right or wrong, to give
in to Kevin's earlier repeated desire to have a dog of his own.
"Kevin?", she asked, "How about us going down to
the dog pound today and getting you a dog? The
dog won't be as pretty as Lassie, but I know we can find a dog that
you'd love." Kevin's eyes lit up like a 50 watt bulb with no
lamp shade as he exclaimed, "Really, mom?! Yes, I don't care
anymore about getting a Lassie dog! Can we go now?", he enthusiastically
asked. "We sure can, honey! Put your shoes on and let's go
on down to the dog pound and find you the perfect dog!" Kevin
jumped up and hurriedly put his shoes on and headed directly to
the car.
Upon
arriving at the dog pound, she asked the old man who ran the shelter
which dog out of all of the dogs there would be the most loyal and
well trained dog for her eager little boy. Without a moment's pause,
the man replied, "Oh, that's an easy question to answer. Follow
me back and I'll show you the perfect dog for your son." Kevin
and his mother followed the old man back to the last cage on the
right. "There
she is, ma'am. This would be the dog I'd choose and I'd already
have her myself but we have a half-dozen dogs at home and just don't
have room for "Fire." She was taken back as she looked
at this homely dog with little hair as the mutt looked like she
had been badly burned. After she got over the initial shock of such
a sight, she asked, "Has this dog been burned and are you sure
this would be the right dog for Kevin?"
The
old man looked at Kevin and noticed his eyes were misting with tears.
"Oh I'd bet my life on it, ma'am!", he confidently replied.
"Ma'am?", he inquired, "Did you not hear about the
dog that laid on top of the little girl during the forest fire up
on Red Bird Mountain? This was the dog that they featured in the
local paper. This rascal saved the little girl's life and just about
lost her own by covering that little girl with her body!" She
thought for a bit and answered, "Well, of course I did! Are
you telling me that this is that dog?" "Yes, it sure is.
No one has taken her because of how she looks and I would have put
her to sleep but it's hard to end a life that saved one!",
he somberly replied. "Do you want this dog, Kevin? Sounds like
you'd have yourself a hero like Lassie if we brought her home."
Kevin's eyes had full-blown tears in them now.
"I
want her, mom! Can we take her back with us?" She quickly glanced
at the old man who was moved to tears himself at this point. "She's
ours, sweetheart." They
took "Fire" home and she never left Kevin's side and was
his constant companion never once even attempting to leave
the yard or run out of the gate if it was mistakenly left open.
Every night Kevin would say his prayers when his mother would tuck
him in, and he never failed to pray that "Fire" would
be healed and get her hair back.
After
about five weeks, Kevin's constant prayers were obviously being
answered as the once terribly disfigured mutt's hair rapidly began
to grow back. Perhaps it was Kevin and his mother's imagination,
but the more "Fire's" hair grew back, the more she resembled
Lassie.
Kevin's
mother opted to call the old man at the dog pound as her curiosity
was overwhelmingly piqued. "Hello," the old man responded
on the other end of the phone, "Corbin County Dog Pound. My
name is Joe, and how can we help you today?" "Hi, Joe,
I came in a month or so ago with my son and we got the dog you named
"Fire."
"Yes,
ma'am, he replied happily, "I'm glad you called ... been wondering
how old "Fire" has been doing. How can I help you?"
She took a deep breath and asked, "Well, Joe, I'm curious about
just one thing and thought you might know the answer. What kind
of mutt is 'Fire'?" The
old man softly chuckled before replying. "Ma'am", 'Fire'
isn't a mutt." Confused she continued, "If she's not a
mutt, what kind of dog is she?" He chuckled again and replied,
"Fire's momma and daddy are both show dogs. 'Fire' is a full-bred
Collie."

FIND PATHWAYS
TO 'AUTHENTIC SELF'
One
of the best ways to understand why you do what you do or
why your significant others, your in-laws and even your favorite
celebrities do what they do is to explore the universal archetypes
people print from birth that influence their behavior.
Carl Jung first introduced archetypes as important insights into
human behavior. Archetypes convey an energy, a thought-form that
describes an aspect of our psyche.
In 1990, Canadian psychologist Caroline Hanskte teamed up with Brian
Emmanuel Grey, an intuitive who was given the gift to hone in on
a person's specific psychological strengths and weaknesses
their "program," so to speak.
Together, Brian and Caroline identified the four primary archetypes
everyone functions through at some level of their being, be it the
conscious mind, the subconscious mind, the superconscious mind or
the unconscious mind. These four archetypes are simple, yet extremely
powerful. They have, over the last fourteen years, dramatically
helped thousands of individuals and businesses, including multinational
companies and government agencies.
Over and over again, Caroline and Brian have watched people come
to grips with the most difficult issues in their lives and in their
work teams, dramatically improve their relationships and express
their full potential by unfolding these archetypes.
The four universal archetypes or energies that Caroline and Brian
work with are known as our inner family archetypes, because they
are best described through the concepts of: Father, Mother, Boychild
and Girlchild. Each archetype has a light side and a
dark side. Through their light side, these archetypes allow us to
express our highest soul potential. Through their dark side, we
experience rebellion, fragmentation, pain, isolation, and ultimate
soul destruction.
Everyone uses their four inner family archetypes in a conscious,
subconscious, superconscious or unconscious way, albeit through
different patterns. The specific pattern we print from birth influences
how we think and feel, what we aspire to and what we reject.
If you have a conscious Boychild frame of reference, you
will be very enterprising. If you have a conscious Mother
frame of reference, you would rather have all of your bases covered
before making a move. If your conscious archetype is Girlchild,
you are an intuitive, spherical, highly creative thinker.
Now if you feel through subconscious Girlchild, you will
be highly sensitive. This is different from people who inherit the
tough underbelly of subconscious Boychild, subconscious Father
or even the underlying adult quality of subconscious Mother.
Take
a look, now, at your superconscious archetype. It encompasses the
qualities you aspire to in life. Do you aspire to be the Mother,
to teach and nurture life? Are you drawn to the energy of Father
and pursue order, grids and blueprints in an impersonal way. Is
the mystical kindness of Girlchild your ideal of beauty or
do you hunger for the zestful enthusiasm of the Boychild warrior?
Knowing which archetype governs your unconscious is also key because
that archetype represents your rejected self, and you project
it onto others. If Boychild is in your unconscious, you
may regrettably draw "bullies" to yourself, people who
push your buttons. If you have Mother in the unconscious,
you will tend to magnetize abandonment. If Father is your
unconscious archetype, you may encounter more than a fair share
of trouble with the law, or simply the rules in your environment,
and be prone to criticism. If Girlchild is your rejected
archetype, you may draw to yourself wounded people who seek to persecute
you for an alleged offense.
Generally, people who function from a strong Father archetype
pursue the law. They tend to have strong boundaries and seek to
download a blueprint for every situation. When their Father
energy goes out of balance and becomes unloving, they can become
harsh and critical toward themselves and others.
People who express a strong Mother archetype live to nurture
life. They love to guide and teach others, and provide stability
in any given situation. When they are threatened, they respond by
either going aloof or by smothering those around them with a spoiling
mechanism. Either way, they avoid further giving of themselves.
People who have a strong Boychild archetype are go-getters
in life. They are highly competitive and do whatever it takes to
reach their goal. When their archetype goes negative, they become
overcompetitive, aggressive, and tend to run over others.
People who have a strong Girlchild archetype go with the
flow. They experience life through serendipity. They are highly
creative, caring and intuitive. When their sensitivity is trampled,
however, the unloving side of Girlchild takes over. They
become victim-martyrs, prosecutors who ultimately feel superior
to their persecutors.
The more familiar you become with your four inner family archetypes,
the more you will recognize which archetype you patterned at the
conscious, subconscious, superconscious and unconscious level. You
will also learn to transcend the dark side of each archetype and
overcome the limitations of your specific pattern. This is liberating
and empowering. It will allow you to relate to your loved ones in
a more authentic way so you can strengthen your relationships. You
will understand what trips you up and where other people are coming
from. You will have empathy and bring out the best in yourself and
in others. You will truly know who you are and express your highest
self.

CAMEL CARAVAN

United Arab Emirates

A tourist takes a picture of a painted camel sculpture in the
Camel Caravan, which was Inspired by the success of public art
celebrations across Europe, America and Australia. The Caravan
is a community art event that will see dozens of six-foot high
camels in outdoor locations throughout the area. Artists in the
UAE have painted and embellished camel sculptures into unique
works of art which are being showcased in a multitude of high
profile locations. The project culminated in a public art auction
with the proceeds going to children's charities and for the development
of art and culture in the UAE. The spirit of the event is to merge
art and commerce while benefitting charity and the community.
Camel Caravan was an incredibly multicultural, diverse effort
that engaged schools, community groups, businesses, the government
sector, and the many residents and tourists who enjoyed seeing
these artworks "roaming the streets."

WHAT A SITE!
"Freecycle"
This is a classified site that specializes in
recycling things from one family to another. Items are posted
as either "OFFER" or "WANTED". When a connection
is made, they are nice enough to say "Promised" or
"Taken" on a later post. We have clothes to give away
and there are people asking for clothes! We even have too many
cottage cheese and butter "tubs" (plastic), and there
is a teacher asking for them for a school project. Looking over
this list and answering someones needs (or having your own met)
is a really fun thing to do enjoy!

Outlook Express Address Book
In
Outlook Express, when you click the Print button in the address
book, it spits out each contact on a separate page. I too found
this annoying, then, one fine day, I took my time clicking through
the process and discovered something: the default Print Range
is set to "selection" and the Print Style to
"memo". Since I usually just clicked "Print"
without much thought it used that default. To make it print
in one neat little list, the Print Style should be set
to "Phone List". If you want to print phone
numbers for the whole list, then select "All"
for the Print Range. Speaking of selective contact printing
... to do this, hold down the Ctrl key and click
each name you want included, then leave the Print Range
on "Selection". ~WorldStart.com

RULES FOR BEING HUMAN...
My
long time 'idea man' and good friend, Dave
Boufford, AKA"Mr. Positive" shares
one of his favorite inspirational pieces by Chair Carter-Scott,
Ph.D. ... which he has beautifully transformed into an
uplifting Flash Movie ... RULES
FOR BEING HUMAN:
1.
You will receive a body. You may like it or you may hate
it, but it will be yours for the entire period this time around.
2.
You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time
informal school called life. Each day in this school you will
have the opportunity to learn lessons. You may like the lessons
or you may think them irrelevant & stupid.
3.
There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of
trial and error - experimentation. The failed experiments
are as much a part of the process as the experiment that ultimately
works.
4.
A lesson is repeated until it is learned. A lesson will be
presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When
you have learned it, you can go on to the next lesson.
5.
Learning lessons does not end. There is no part of life that
does not continue lessons. If you are alive, there are lessons
to be learned.
6.
THERE is no better than HERE. When
your THERE has become your HERE, you will
simply obtain another THERE that will again look better
than HERE.
7.
Others are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate
something about another person unless it reflects to you something
you love or hate about yourself.
8.
What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the
tools and resources that you need. What YOU do with them is up
to YOU - the choice is YOURS.
9.
Your answers live inside YOU. The answers to lifes questions
live inside YOU. All you need to do is look, listen and trust.
10.
You will forget all of this ... and then you will remember.
