BE the World You Want to See!

I've
often heard people say ... "Well, this is just the
way I am there's nothing I can do about it." How
sad that they believe this and often use it as an excuse for
doing nothing at all. About 15 years ago I decided that my
'exacting nature' wasn't really FUN for me, nor for those
around me, so I CHOSE to change it. For weeks I didn't make
the bed in the morning, I left dirty dishes in the sink overnight,
and I hung my clothes over a chair rather than in the closet
after work ... I also wore my watch on the opposite wrist,
so even my concept of time was DIFFERENT.
After
a while, I noticed that the sky didn't fall when things weren't
precisely done I could let go of my rigid ways. I actually
transformed a part of my personality that wasn't working for
me. Most of my life I'd operated completely Left Brained;
after a while, in response to my definitive efforts, however,
I surprisingly re-tested as a Middle-Brain individual. This
new go-with-the-flow mindset activated my intuition and 'knowingness'
which opened doors to all sorts of miracles and ethereal adventures.

From the Inside Out
LOVE IN A PAPER SACK
It
was Molly's job to hand her father his brown paper lunch bag each
morning before he headed off to work.
One
morning, in addition to his usual lunch bag, Molly handed him a
second paper bag. This one was worn and held together with duct
tape, staples, and paper clips.
"Why
two bags?" Dad asked
"The
other is something else," Molly answered.
"What's
in it?"
"Just
some stuff, Take it with you."
Not
wanting to hold court over the matter, Dad stuffed both sacks into
his briefcase, kissed Molly and rushed off. At midday, while hurriedly
scarfing down his real lunch, he tore open Molly's bag and shook
out the contents: two hair ribbons, three
small stones, a plastic dinosaur, a pencil stub, a tiny sea shell,
two animal crackers, a marble, a used lipstick, a small doll, two
chocolate kisses and 13 pennies. Dad
smiled, finished eating, and swept the desk clean into the
wastebasket leftover lunch, Molly's junk and all.
That
evening, Molly ran up behind him as he read the paper. "Where's
my bag?"
"What
bag?"
"You
know, the one I gave you this morning."
"I
left it at the office. Why?"
"I
forgot to put this note in it," she said. "And,
besides, those are my things in the sack, Daddy, the ones I really
love I thought you might like to play with them, but now
I want them back. You didn't lose the bag, did you, Daddy?"
"Oh,
no," he said lying,"I just forgot to bring it home.
I'll bring it home tomorrow."
While
Molly hugged her father's neck, he unfolded the note that had not
made it into the sack: "I love you, Daddy," it
read.
Molly
had given him her treasures. All that a 7-year-old held dear. Love
in a paper sack, and he missed it not only missed it, but
had thrown it in the wastebasket.
So
back he went to the office. Just ahead of the night janitor, he
picked up the wastebasket and poured the contents on his desk.
After
washing the mustard off the dinosaur and spraying the whole thing
with breath-freshener to kill the smell of onions, he carefully
smoothed out the wadded ball of brown paper, put the treasure inside
and carried it home gingerly, like and injured kitten. The bag didn't
look so good, but the stuff was all there and that's what counted.
After
dinner, he asked Molly to tell him about the stuff in the sack.
It took a long time to tell. Everything had a story or a memory
or was attached to dreams and imaginary friends. Fairies had brought
some of the things. He had given her the chocolate kisses, and she
had kept them for when she needed them.
"Sometimes
I think of all the times in this sweet life," he mused,
"when I must have missed the affection I was being given.
I have a friend who calls this 'standing knee deep in the river
and dying of thirst'."
We
should all remember that it's not the destination that counts in
life it's the journey. The journey with the people we love
is all that really matters. Such a simple truth so easily forgotten,
yet we can, at any moment, choose to see the truth. A
little girl's smiles, chocolate kisses wrapped in old paper bags
that we sometimes throw away too thoughtlessly, each a tiny
treasure.
So
today take a few seconds and think about the tiny treasures in your
life ...

around." ~From Sofia, in the movie Vanilla Sky.

P.S."EXERCISE
YOUR GREATEST POWER"
"Becoming
aware of my character defects leads me naturally to the next step
of blaming my parents," one woman quips. Benjamin Franklin
didn't feel that way. Becoming aware of his character defects led
him to something quite remarkable. He exercised what author J. Martin
Kohe calls Your
Greatest Power and that is your POWER TO CHOOSE.
Franklin
noticed that he had difficulty getting along with people. He tended
to argue too much. He had trouble making and keeping friends. So
he made a choice. He chose to examine his own personality and make
a list of what he considered undesirable personality traits. (It's
not known if other people helped him make this list.)
It
was New Year's Day. Franklin finished his list of personality traits
he wanted to change. He identified 13 character flaws and determined
to work on each one for a week. He did this for an entire year and
finally checked each trait off his list.
Benjamin
Franklin developed one of the finest personalities in America. People
looked up to him and admired him. When the colonies needed help
from France, they sent Franklin. The French liked him and gave him
what he wanted.
Suppose
Franklin had chosen to go through life without using his greatest
power his power to choose. Suppose he reasoned that there
was really nothing he could do about himself. Would France have
supported the colonies? The history of the world may have been significantly
different.
One
good wish changes nothing. But one good decision changes everything.
Your power to choose, to make a good decision, spells the difference
between wishing and making those wishes come true.
Do
you need to exercise your greatest power? Your power to choose can
never be taken from you. It can be neglected. It can be ignored.
But if used, it can make all the difference. Use your greatest power
and, whether or not you change history, you will certainly change
your future.

Yes You Can!
SHIFT INTO AUTHENTIC
WISDOM
|
"Believe
that life is worth living, and your belief will help create
that fact." ~William James
"Nothing
is, unless our thinking makes it so." ~William Shakespeare
Every
single thought you have can be assessed in terms of whether
it strengthens or weakens you. In fact, there's a
simple muscle test you can do to try out any thought that
you're having in the present moment. It works like this: Hold
your arm out to your side, and have someone else attempt to
push your arm down while you resist. Think of telling a lie,
and notice how much weaker you are than if you think of a
truth.
Authentic
wisdom is the ability to monitor yourself at all times to
determine your relative state of weakness or strength, and
to shift out of those thoughts that weaken you. In
this way, you keep yourself in an upbeat, higher state of
consciousness, and you prevent your thoughts from weakening
every single organ of your body. When you use your mind to
empower you, you're appealing to that which uplifts and raises
your spirits.
Thoughts
That Weaken You
If a simple thought will make the muscles of your arm go weak
or strong, imagine what it must be doing to all of the other
muscles and organs of your body! Your heart is a muscle that's
weakened by thoughts that disempower you. Your kidneys, liver,
lungs, and intestines are all surrounded by muscles that are
affected by your thoughts.
The
thought that makes most people the weakest is shame, which
produces humiliation. The importance of forgiving
yourself cannot be stated strongly enough. If you carry around
thoughts of shame about what you've done in the past, you're
weakening yourself both physically and emotionally. Similarly,
if you use a technique of shame and humiliation on anyone
to get them to reform, you're going to create a weakened person
who will never become empowered until those shameful and humiliating
thoughts are removed. Removing your own thoughts of shame
involves a willingness to let go, to see your past behaviors
as lessons you had to learn, and to reconnect to your source
through prayer and meditation.
After
shame, guilt and apathy thoughts make you the weakest.
They produce the emotions of blame and despair. To live in
guilt is to use up your present moments being immobilized
over what has already transpired. No amount of guilt will
ever undo what's been done. If your past behavior mobilizes
you to learn from your mistakes, this is not guilt; it's learning
from the past. But to wallow in the present moment over your
so-called errors is guilt, and it can only take place now.
Releasing guilt is like removing a huge weight from your shoulders.
Guilt is released through the empowering thought of love and
respect for yourself. You empower yourself with love and respect,
letting go of standards of perfection and refusing to use
up the precious currency of your life, the now, with thoughts
that only continue to frustrate and weaken you. Instead, you
can vow to be better than you used to be, which is the true
test of nobility. Apathetic thoughts create despair. They
are the thoughts that keep you from being engaged in life.
Apathy stems from self-pity and a need to be entertained continually
to avoid boredom. You can never be apathetic or lonely if
you love the person you're alone with. Every moment of every
day presents an unlimited number of options for living fully
and being connected to life. You don't need a television or
a radio constantly blaring to avoid apathy. You have your
own mind, which is a kingdom of limitless potential.. Any
moments that you fill with thoughts of boredom and apathy
will truly weaken you physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
The
other prominent thoughts that compete to make you weak include
fear and anger. Both of these categories of thought
employ force, which produces a counter-force and an inner
atmosphere of tension and weakness. When you're afraid, you've
moved away from love. Remember, "Perfect love casteth
out all fear." What you fear, you resent and ultimately
begin to hate. Thus, the dichotomy of hate and fear are at
work within you, always weakening you. Every
thought you have in which you're in a state of fear keeps
you away from your purpose, and is simultaneously weakening
you. Your fearful thoughts are inviting you to stay immobilized.
Anger, likewise, is an emotional reaction to thoughts that
say, "I want the world to be the way I want it, not
the way it is; therefore, I'm angry." Anger is often
justified as normal, but it will always make you weak; and
as this principle reminds you, wisdom is avoiding all thoughts
that weaken you. You don't have to be angry to right a wrong
or work toward a better world. When you become more peaceful,
you will only have peace to give away. Moments of frustration
won't trigger anger; they'll help you be more aware, and then
they'll spur you on to a solution.
Thoughts
That Strengthen You
When you shift from a thought that's a very low energy vibration
to one of a higher frequency, you go from weak to strong.
When your thought is on blaming others, you're weakened. But
when you shift to loving and trusting others, you become strong.
Your thoughts come with an accompanying energy, so you might
as well shift to those that empower you. Once you realize
that what you think about is the source of your experience
of reality, then you'll begin to pay more attention to what
you're thinking in any given moment.
Many
years ago, in a tremendously popular audio program called
The Strangest Secret, Earl Nightingale taught many of us that
we become what we think about all day long. Your thoughts
determine whether you're being empowered or weakened
whether you're happy or sad, successful or not. Everything
is a thought that you carry around with you. Happy thoughts
create happy molecules. Your health is determined largely
by the thoughts you have. Passionately think that you won't
get a cold, and your body will react to your thoughts. Refuse
to entertain thoughts of fatigue, jet lag, or headaches, and
your body responds to your thoughts.
Your
mind tells your body to produce the drugs it needs to keep
you healthy. Give someone a sugar pill and convince
them that it's an anti-arthritic drug, and that person's body
will react to the placebo with the increased production of
anti-arthritic energies. The mind is a powerful tool in creating
health. It also creates divine relationships, abundance, harmony
in business --and even parking places! If your thoughts are
focused on what you want to attract in your life, and you
maintain that thought with the passion of an absolute intention,
you'll eventually act upon that intention, because the ancestor
to every single action is a thought.
The
most empowering thoughts you can have are those of peace,
joy, love, acceptance, and willingness. These thoughts
don't create a counter-force. Powerful, joyful, loving thoughts
stem from your willingness to allow the world to be as it
is. Then you're in a state of inner bliss where serenity replaces
fighting, reverence for all of life substitutes for craving
and anxiety, and understanding supplants scorn. You become
an optimist. Rather than seeing the glass as half empty, it's
always half full.
All
of this is nothing more than a conscious decision on your
part to be in charge of your thinking. Be aware at
any given moment in your life that you always have a choice
about the thoughts you allow in your mind. No one else can
put a thought there. Regardless of the circumstances you find
yourself in, it is your choice. Choose to replace disempowering,
weakening thoughts with thoughts of a higher spiritual frequency.
Don't
convince yourself that it can't be done or it's easier said
than done. Your mind is yours to control. You are
the creator and selector of your thoughts. You can change
them at will. It is your corner of freedom that no one can
take away. No one can have control of your thoughts without
your consent. So choose to avoid thoughts that weaken you,
and YOU will know true wisdom. It is your choice!

ZAMBIA: AFRICA
IN A NUTSHELL

South Luangwa Walking Safari in
Zambia, Africa

|
Zambia
encompasses many types of African landscapes, and thus it
can be said to be "Africa in a Nutshell." It is
mostly a savanna and drylands landscape, with some low mountain
ranges, escarpments and parts of the Rift Valley. Despite
a very turbulent history of past tribalism and horrible
colonialism and political upheavals since independence in
1964, there remains a sense of basic calm and safety here.
The colonial mapping left Zambia looking butterfly-shaped,
almost cut in two halves by Congo (Kinshasa). The borders
do not correspond to any ethnic or linguistic boundaries,
and border no less than 8 other countries. Tourism is increasing
its importance in the national economy. For a visitor, the
larger cities generally do not have too much to behold,
but in the savannas and fertile valleys, Zambia remains
totally wild and undiscovered and offers some of the largest
and least frequented parks in Africa. Experts have dubbed
South Luangwa Park one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries
in the world, and not without reason. The concentration
of game around the Luangwa river and its ox bow lagoons
is among the most intense in Africa. The now famous 'walking
safari' originated in this park and is still one of the
finest ways to experience the pristine wilderness first
hand. Kafue National Park is the largest in Africa,
covering a staggering 22,400 sq km, and offering sensational
wildlife viewing and incredible species diversity. The lush
grasslands are grazed by herds of red lechwe in their thousands
whilst puku, reed buck, sable and roan antelope, Lichtenstein's
hartebeest, Defass waterbuck, buffalo, bushbuck, serval,
lion and elephant are all common. There are also regular
sightings of leopard and cheetah and occasionally wild dog,
pangolin and aardvark can be spotted. The Lower Zambezi
National Park became a park in 1983 and is still unspoiled.
Situated on the banks of the Zambezi River in the southeastern
part of Zambia, opposite Zimbabwe's Manna Pools National
Park, the Lower Zambezi National Park has 120 km of river
frontage. The legendary Zambezi River is in itself a spectacle
and is the namesake of this pristine wilderness.
Spectacular
Victoria Falls is one of the Seven Natural Wonders
of the World. The thundering waters of the Zambezi plummet
over 100 meters down into a mighty chasm in a mesmerizing
display of raw power that is the world's largest sheet of
falling water. Dr. David Livingstone traveled down the mighty
Zambezi River in a large makoro, (dugout canoe) steered
by local paddler called 'the breaker of canoes' in which
he traversed the treacherous course of rapids that lay between
him and the great wonder of the natural world. He was so
awestruck; that he named the earth's largest body of falling
water after his sovereign, Queen Victoria. Visitors to Victoria
Falls National Park can enjoy incredible views by following
the many different paths along the gorge the best
being along the Knife Edge Bridge that leads out to an island
left isolated in the abyss from where you look directly
across to the eastern Cataract and Main Falls or gaze far
below to the churning maelstrom of The Boiling Pot where
the river turns and heads down a dramatic series of gorges.

THE SECRET? KNOWN SINCE ANCIENT
TIMES, REQUIRES FOCUS & CLARITY
|
Ancient sages knew of "The Law of Attraction"
years before the material was revealed to the general populace.
In the late 19th century, philosophers and some business people
began writing about these principles. William James (1842-1910),
wrote about the concepts from a psychological viewpoint in
The
Will to Believe & Other Essays. He
was one of the first to claim that we can alter our situations
through the power of our minds when he said, "Human
beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of
mind." Around the same time, James Allen (1864-1912)
wrote As
a Man Thinketh ,
which also showed that you can change your circumstances by
changing how you think. "The Strangest Secret,"
he said, is "we become what we think about."
By sharing real-life stories in The
Game of Life and How to Play It , Florence
Scovel Shinn (1871-1940) illustrated how positive attitudes
and affirmations invariably succeed in making one a "winner"
in life, able to control life's conditions and release abundance
through a knowledge of spiritual law.
This
powerful information isn't new it was made public long
ago, but few listened because one of the hardest things for
any person to do is to think the way they WANT to think, regardless
of external circumstances. The
Secret
in book and DVD is the latest promotional vehicle touting
the magic of "The Law of Attraction." The Secret's
author Rhonda Byrne explains that, at a low point in her life,
her daughter gave her a book that started it all ... The
Science of Getting Rich written in the early
1900's by Wallace Wattles and available free (below) from
Inspiration Line.
Wallace
D. Wattles
(1860-1911) was born in the United States shortly before the
Civil War, and experienced much failure in his earlier years.
Later in life he took to studying the various religious beliefs
and philosophies of the world, including those of Descartes,
Spinoza, Gottfried Leibniz, Schopenhauer, Hegel, Swedenborg,
Ralph Waldo Emerson, and others. It was through his tireless
study and experimentation that he discovered the truth of
these principles, put them into practice in his own life,
became wealthy and began to write books outlining his process.
Wattles laid out a specific formula for using "The Law
of Attraction" to become rich and said that no one can
fail, if he or she simply follows these guidelines. A compilation
of books by Wallace can be found in: The
Wisdom of Wallace D. Wattles - The Science of Getting Rich,
The Science of Being Great & The Science of Being Well.
He practiced the technique of creative visualization and,
as his daughter Florence relates, "He wrote almost
constantly. It was then that he formed his mental picture.
He saw himself as a successful writer, a personality of power,
an advancing man, and he began to work toward the realization
of this vision. He lived every page ... His life was
truly the powerful life."
